Alain practises in commercial litigation with a particular focus on professional liability and regulation, insurance and contentious tax matters.
Alain has worked in litigation for over 20 years, having spent most of his career practising as a barrister at the independent bar. He has appeared as both lead and junior counsel in a wide range of contested matters in a variety of Courts and tribunals and has acted in complex commercial litigation.
Alain has sat as both a mediator and as an arbitrator, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and a fellow of the Tax Institute of Australia (FTI).
He is the current President of the Law Society of Western Australia and a Director of the Law Council of Australia.
Before joining the WA Bar Alain was special counsel in the commercial litigation division of Corrs Chambers Westgarth, having joined that firm in 2001. Prior to Corrs he practised as a barrister in Cape Town, South Africa.
