After working in private practice for several years, Darren commenced employment with the Commonwealth DPP in 1998 going on to hold the position of Senior Assistant Director before becoming In-House Counsel in 2006 until leaving to join the Bar in 2010. Whilst with the CDPP Darren conducted many high profile and complex trials in all courts in WA and maintained a significant appellate practice, including appearing in the High Court. Darren has extensive experience in all aspects of federal criminal law and has conducted numerous trials and appeals involving State offences as well as representing many foreign governments on extradition matters at both first instance and in the Federal Court. Darren has also presented several papers at international conferences and represented Australia on an international inter-governmental panel dealing with Cybercrime.
