Leigh Warnick is an experienced practitioner in the fields of corporate, commercial and resources law.

After gaining experience as an in-house lawyer and company secretary with the Rio Tinto Group, Leigh became a partner in the law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons). He subsequently worked as a partner in the firms Blake Dawson (now Ashurst Australia) and Lavan Legal. He has been recognized in the areas of corporate law, corporate governance and mining by Best Lawyers Australia.
In the field of corporate governance Leigh’s work has included acting in the complex series of investigations following the collapse of Rothwells Limited in 1988, and representing parties involved in complaints arising under the provisions of the Commonwealth Criminal Code relating to the bribery of foreign public officials.

Leigh also has 18 years’ experience as a director and chairman of listed public companies.

Leigh is one of the authors of Thomson, Warnick and Martin, Commercial Contract Clauses – Principles and Interpretation (published by Thomson Reuters). He has published a number of articles on State agreements for resource projects in Australia, and frequently acts for private proponents in matters arising under these agreements.

A focus in Leigh’s practice has been providing clear, concise and effective advice on complex issues in corporate and resources law.
