Peter commenced his legal career in December 2000 as a research assistant to Crown Counsel, George Tannin SC, and subsequently Crown Solicitor Peter Panegyres AM. After completing articles he was admitted in December 2003. He was appointed an Assistant State Solicitor in 2008 and held that position until he left the State Solicitor’s Office at the start of 2015.
In a career focused predominantly upon litigation, Peter has appeared in arbitrations, trials, inquests, tribunal hearings, mediations and appeals in courts of all levels throughout Western Australia. His practice has been varied but primarily involves:
· Commercial disputes, administrative law, and land compensation matters;
· Prosecutions for significant breaches of environmental and safety laws, including prosecutions of corporations;
· Coronial inquests involving issues of substantial public interest; and
· State Administrative Tribunal matters (all streams), including development, vocational regulation, tax and discrimination.
In 2008/2009 Peter completed his Master of Laws (Hons) at Columbia University in New York City. He then completed the National Security Law Institute at the Center for National Security Law at the University of Virginia, and passed the 2009 New York Bar examination.
