John's practice at the bar is mainly in commercial and resources disputes and advice. He started with Corrs Chambers Westgarth and has worked in areas of commercial law, administrative law, and human rights. He has experience in occupational health and safety in the resources sector and general commercial litigation. Since 1998 John’s work has particularly focused on mining and human rights issues, both as a practitioner and academic. John teaches two post-graduate courses: International and Comparative Mineral Law and Human Rights, Mining and Petroleum. His recent publications include the book Mining Law and Policy: International Perspectives; a chapter on 'Parliamentary-ratified agreements in the resources sector'; and updating the Laws of Australia chapter on Mining.
