Prior to coming to the Bar, Ben worked at Freehills for four years in Dispute Resolution, as an Associate to The Honourable Justice Kenneth Hayne AC at the High Court of Australia and as Counsel Assisting the Solicitor-General of the Commonwealth.
Ben practices in the areas of administrative law, arbitration, commercial law, common law, competition and consumer law, conflict of laws, constitutional law, criminal law, insolvency, international law, regulatory investigations and taxation, at first instance or an appellate level at the Victorian and Western Australian Bar (where he has access to chambers when required).
Ben holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Western Australia, where he completed his Law (Hons) and Commerce degrees and was ranked first out of 192 graduating Law students (winning a number of academic prizes). Before graduating Ben was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship for Western Australia.
At a post-graduate level, Ben has completed a Master of Laws from New York University, as a Hauser Global Scholar, focusing on Corporate and Competition Law, where he won the Betty Bock Prize for Competition Policy, and a D.Phil. in Law from the University of Oxford.
