History

In 1962, Francis Burt QC, retired from the firm of which he was a partner and commenced practice solely as a barrister.  Sir Francis was later a Judge, and then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, before becoming Governor of Western Australia.  He was shortly joined by Mr John Wickham (later the Honourable Mr Justice Wickham), Mr Terry Walsh (later the Honourable Mr Justice Walsh) and by Mr Gresley Clarkson in July 1963.  These four formed The Western Australian Bar Association in October 1963.  The formation of The WA Bar was announced at the sittings of the Full Court in that month.
