Karen Shepherd

Karen Shepherd has a broad criminal law practice acting for those charged with serious criminal offences – including homicide, drug importations, complex frauds, manufacture and dealing in prohibited drugs, armed robbery, arson and many other offences under both State and Federal Law.

Karen was admitted to practice in WA in 1994 before undertaking her Master of Laws Degree specialising in Crime and Criminal Justice (with Distinction, top graduate) at King’s College London. She then spent six years specialising in white collar crime in London and across the UK, advising and representing clients in defending large scale prosecutions brought by HM Customs and Excise, the Serious Fraud Office, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Inland Revenue Office, the Crown Prosecution Service and other regulatory and prosecutorial bodies in the UK.

Since returning to WA, Karen has worked for the State DPP and Legal Aid, including advisory work for National Legal Aid in Papua New Guinea. She joined the Bar in 2016.

Karen accepts briefs to defend and prosecute criminal law matters, including advice and representation at Coronial Inquiries, Disciplinary Tribunals and regulatory work.

Karen is committed to excellence in client care, attention to detail and the provision of pragmatic advice.
