Hayley Cormann
Before joining the bar in 2019, Hayley spent 13 years in commercial, professional negligence and health law litigation in private practice at a top tier firm in Perth. She specialised in the defence of professional negligence claims against health practitioners, and in the conduct of disciplinary proceedings brought by regulatory bodies. Hayley has also been involved in the conduct of large-scale general commercial litigation disputes and since joining the bar, Hayley has been briefed across a wide variety of general commercial disputes, personal injury and professional negligence claims from both the healthcare and legal sectors. Hayley accepts briefs across all jurisdictions, and currently holds briefs in the District and Supreme Courts, the Federal Court, the Coroner’s Court, and the State Administrative Tribunal.
Hayley is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (2012). In 2018, she served as President of the Law Society of Western Australia, representing the interests of more than 3,000 members of the legal profession. Until 2019, Hayley was a member of the Society’s Professional Indemnity Insurance Management Committee, a member of the Society’s Ethics Committee, and a Director of the Law Access Board.
