Heather Millar
Heather’s commercial law practice has a focus on workplace legal matters: employment law, industrial relations, and health and safety. Her practice also covers administrative and contentious regulatory work before disciplinary tribunals.
Heather worked for a number of years in Herbert Smith Freehills’ employment team, working with clients in the resources, finance, local government and utility sectors. She has advised on collective bargaining, industrial litigation, employment disputes and occupational health and safety matters. Between 2009 and 2013, Heather worked at Lewis Silkin LLP, a number one ranked employment law firm in the UK, on high value employment litigation including discrimination and breach of contract claims, class actions and restraints of trade.
Before coming to the bar, Heather worked for two years in the Department of Health in the industrial relations team, negotiating industrial matters in a highly unionised environment. She regularly appears in the Federal and State employment jurisdictions as well as in the Federal Court and the Federal Circuit Court.
