Justin Edwards SC
Prior to joining the bar I practiced as a solicitor at HWL Ebsworth in Brisbane and before that at Minter Ellison in Perth. I did my articles of clerkship at Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation in Karratha. As a solicitor I practiced mainly in commercial dispute resolution and native title.
At Minter Ellison I worked principally in commercial dispute resolution including matters in the Supreme Court, District Court and the Magistrates Court.
At HWL Ebsworth I worked on contentious and non-contentious native title matters. The contentious side included native title claimant applications and contested applications in the Federal Court, mediations between Aboriginal parties and expedited procedure objections in the National Native Title Tribunal. The non-contentious side included assisting Aboriginal groups to negotiate Indigenous Land Use Agreements, future act agreements and agreements relating to Aboriginal cultural heritage with resource companies and government bodies. In both aspects of the practice I advised on mining, land administration, environmental, public administration and corporations and trusts matters.
