Clare McKay
Clare practises primarily in commercial litigation and arbitration. She has experience in energy and resources, mining, telecommunications, and shareholder disputes and is frequently instructed to advise on both private and public law.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Clare was an Associate to the Hon Susan Crennan AC QC at the High Court of Australia and the inaugural Associate to the Hon Justice James Edelman at the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Clare practised as a solicitor in the International Litigation and Arbitration group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (UK) LLP in London, working on major international commercial arbitrations and large scale commercial and public law litigation. She also worked on commercial and taxation litigation at King & Wood Mallesons in Melbourne.
Clare has taught law at the University of Western Australia, the University of New South Wales, and the Australian National University. She has published on equity and trusts, torts, and public law.
Clare holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia. Clare ranked first in law in her graduating class at UWA with 11 academic prizes.
