Alexandra Pieniazek
Alexandra Pieniazek has practised in commercial litigation in Western Australia for over 10 years and accepts briefs on a wide range of matters.
Alexandra’s experience covers disputes concerning:
- commercial contracts (including royalty, gas, fuel, water and equipment supply agreements);
- state agreements (for resources and non-resources clients);
- professional negligence;
- misleading or deceptive conduct;
- corporations law (directors’ duties and shareholder oppression actions);
- public law; and
- equitable claims.
Alexandra has acted for clients in the energy, mining, resources, professional services, agribusiness, education, entertainment, real estate, property development, transport and technology sectors.
Alexandra has experience in the superior courts including the Court of Appeal of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. Alexandra has also been involved in Government inquiries and royal commissions, alternative dispute resolution procedures and international arbitrations (most recently involving a West African resources project for an Australian listed company).
Alexandra began her career in 2010 as the research associate to the Hon. Justice Buss and the Hon. Justice Newnes at the Court of Appeal of Western Australia. Before joining the Bar, Alexandra was a Senior Associate in the dispute resolution team at King & Wood Mallesons (‘KWM’). During her time at KWM, she completed secondments to the BHP in-house litigation team and Anderson Mōri & Tomotsune (in Tokyo) and was actively involved in the KWM pro bono program.
Alexandra is fluent in French and is currently enrolled part-time in the Master of Laws (LLM) program at the University of Melbourne.
