Robert French
Robert is a dispute resolution lawyer with experience in Hong Kong, Victoria and Western Australia. His practice comprises international arbitration, commercial law, administrative law, contentious regulatory, and employment law. From 2012 to 2014 Robert was a Managing Associate in Linklaters’ Hong Kong dispute resolution team where he represented major banks and international organisations in contentious regulatory matters, cross-border disputes, international arbitration and general commercial litigation. Prior to that Robert was a Senior Associate at Clayton Utz in Victoria where he practiced in the Commercial Litigation and Employment Relations teams.
Whilst at Linklaters and Clayton Utz, Robert gained experience acting for and against regulators in contentious regulatory matters. In Hong Kong this included actions involving the Securities & Futures Commission, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In Australia Robert has acted against the Australian Securities and Investment Commission in an insider trading action against a company director and for the Australian Building & Construction Commission and the Fair Work Ombudsman in industrial relations disputes. In the employment law context Robert has appeared for employers and employees in Fair Work Australia, the Federal Court of Australia and the Federal Magistrates Court in a range of employment related disputes
