Christopher Taylor-Burch

Chris has appeared in the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court, and State Administrative Tribunal, and both unled and led in trials. Chris received the Chief Justice’s Prize for Best Performed Reader in the Bar Readers’ Course for 2023.

Before coming to the bar, Chris was a senior associate at Corrs Chambers Westgarth. He acted in various high-profile, sensitive, and challenging matters, including the successful defence of a $100m+ appeal for a multinational resource company, for a port authority to avoid port closures, for the Legislative Council in upholding parliamentary privilege, and as a solicitor assisting a Royal Commission.

Chris also maintains an active pro bono practice, with a particular focus on civil and human rights cases.

Chris was previously a Research Associate to the Hon Justice Pritchard and the Hon Justice Tottle of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

Chris holds a Juris Doctor (Dean’s List for Academic Excellence/Research by Invitation) and a Bachelor of Arts (French and Political Science & International Relations) from the University of Western Australia, and the ARITA Advanced Certification (Advanced Insolvency) from the University of Technology Sydney.
